UGA police hunt ‘Pee Wee’ after thefts of credit cards

University of Georgia police need the public’s help finding “Pee Wee.”

That’s the street name of a man they say used credit cards stolen from UGA’s Biology Building last month to go on an illegal shopping spree with friends.

UGA investigators on Monday took out warrants on four of those friends — one a UGA employee — charging them with a range of crimes from felony fraud to drug possession.

Investigators made the charges based on evidence found in the suspects’ homes and cars, but none had been booked into the Clarke County Jail as of early Tuesday evening.

Also as of Tuesday, they hadn’t identified the man who is suspected of sneaking into the Biology Building on June 27 and stealing a student’s wallet and debit card, which was later used at various places around town, police said.

A surveillance camera captured the man walking down a hallway the day of the theft, police said, and also when he was in the building a couple days before, the same day
